After Tomorrow
Today is Monday! Today I have the final presentation for a project that has taken up very much–maybe too much–of my time. I’m sure it’ll all feel very happy once it’s over, except for the fact that I have a test tomorrow that I haven’t started revision on. But beyond that, it’ll all be over. For now (writing this on Sunday), I’ll just be happy if I manage to survive the next couple of days without incident.
And goodness, it went by in a flash. I know I say that every semester, but this one has been just that bit different. I tried harder to keep up with friends; I found myself having to deal with minor crises one after the other; and I made a little progress where work was concerned. I didn’t burn out, which is surprising because I thought I would. And as far as friends go, I think I learnt a little about what some friendships mean to me, and I think while I’ve lost some of these acquaintances, there are some that I now hold closer than I ever thought I would, which is probably the best thing that’s happened in the past three months.
It’s not been a bad three months. Sure, occasionally upsetting, but otherwise pretty good. I think something happened. Something changed. I’m not sure what.
Strange, I was talking about school work just a few sentences ago. But I think the point is it all went pretty well, bar a few hiccups along the way.
Right, the final countdown.
Water Always Wins
Waters Of Mars is broadcast this week, and here’s a new trailer. Well, it was new when I first saw it.

Though I suppose it will cost me. The one I’m on now is about four-and-a-half years old, if memory serves. I think slightly over. I can’t be sure. That’s not very old, for sure, but it sure as heck isn’t going to play Crysis. I remember upgrading back then for Half-Life 2, which was at the end of 2004, and I got this not too long after that. Sure seems like ages now, though.
Yesterday, I got Dragon Age: Origins, in its strange-smelling wooden box. I have to admit that I was hoping for a little more in the way of physical bonuses. (An art book would’ve been nice.) But still, I’m a sucker for in-game bonus material, so I got the one with the strange-smelling wooden box anyway. I think I’ll have to run it on my notebook, with a mouse I don’t have… yet. (I’ll find it.)
But it reminded me that I’ve been wanting to upgrade my desktop for a while now.
Let’s see. I suppose it would be nice to get a Windows 7 machine, probably an i7, with some substantial hard disk (though I’m not too picky on disk space) and some substantial RAM (it would be nice to go for 8). I don’t need a monitor, and I don’t need speakers, a mouse or a keyboard, so I might be able to save on those (depending on what happens). Oh, I forgot about the graphics card. I’ve not been keeping track of stuff, so I won’t know what I’m supposed to get, but let’s just say that it probably wouldn’t be right at the top of the food chain, but it wouldn’t be too shabby either. A GTX probably.
Hmm, that looks possible, but also slightly on the expensive side. I better think about this. When I have the time.

Good Idea, Bad Idea
I thought of some stuff on Monday. I don’t know if it’s any good, but I wrote it down first. I’m fluctuating between the two ends of the stick, and I’m pretty sure this will all turn out to be a bad idea. But I think the starting scene and the ending scene will work. It’s just that I don’t yet know what happens in between. That is a fairly frustrating feeling, but it comes with the job.
Presentation Down!
On the cards, one lab report, one test, one paper, and one more presentation to go. And a bunch of other random things. I’m trying not to think about it, for fear of scaring myself into surrender, so instead I’ll just keep chugging along until we get to the other side.
Oops
I forgot to remind all you people to flip your calendars! So flip them!

Semi-Productive
Over the weekend, I did up my individual report for the project. It’s not done yet, but it’s close. This means that I can spend the whole week on my presentations and lab report. Wow, it wasn’t so long ago when the exams seemed a little far away. They’re too close for comfort now.
I didn’t exactly manage to accomplish a lot over the weekend, but it’s better than nothing, and at least it now looks as if I have some realistic chance of finishing the race. We’re not out of the woods yet, but it’s looking better. It’ll all be over in about ten days (or under), after I’ve completed my presentations and finished up with the final test of the semester.
Ideas
Some ideas, here and there, but nothing completely satisfactory for a new project. I had all of these nice ideas before, yes, and I was so keen on making it this massive project that was going to occupy me for a few years. But the way things tend to go for me, I spend all my time planning and planning and planning, then I find that it’s not working one morning and I dive straight into another idea completely. It was the case with The River, which I thought of one morning on the way to school and after abandoning a project of a few years. It was also the case with Bukit Merah, which I did after some substantial planning into something else that I abandoned completely. I made almost no notes on Bukit Merah at all.
I kind of think it will be the same this time.
Mang Is Here
My sister’s cat has been deposited at our place for a few days. It’s always nice to see Mang. I remember when she was still a stray, all those years ago, and I was, what, 13? 14? Can’t really remember. But it is nice to see her; Mang is love.
